Lorraine Ayensu

Following on from her regional and national successes in 2006 and 2007, Bristol based singer songwriter Lorraine Ayensu is coming to Borden Grammer School with her trio.

Lorraine is of Ghanaian & British heritage, and grew up in the North East. She describes her songs as a conversation between all the music she likes. She draws on the forms of British and American song-writing and combines them with world beat, soul, urban, rock and jazz sounds.

Lorraine has extensive live experience; she has played at Glastonbury Festival: (Avalon and Jazz Café stages), Respect and WOMAD festivals and last year she supported Papa Noel & Bana Congo project, winning rave reviews: "One of the best live outfits in the UK" Rick Williams – The Lift Global Music Festival 2007

Expect a range of songs from tender ballads to uplifting and up beat Afro folk-Soul. Regular collaborators: Ghanaian percussionist Nii Tagoe and saxophonist Norma Daykin join with Lorraine to add dynamic rhythm and harmony to Lorraine’s already complete guitar playing and melodic vocals.
